IEO Engine Glossary Term

Domain Vintage

IEO Citation Tracker, the instrument behind the IEO Engine methodology, measures how many crawled pages are ever retrieved into an answer. Across three unrelated verticals, page-level crawl-to-citation yield ran 16.3%, 17.2% and 2.8% — measured from raw server logs, with the denominator stated. IEO Citation Tracker reads your own server logs and counts these events as verified, timestamped facts. Method and denominators.

The age of a domain measured from initial registration. Traditional SEO weighed domain vintage as a ranking factor, with older domains generally treated as more trustworthy. AI citation engines weight domain vintage less heavily, evaluating content quality and architecture as primary inputs.

The reduced weight of domain vintage in AI citation is significant because it allows new deployments to compete with established domains based on content quality. The IEO Engine MM deployment achieved AI Overview citation on Day 4 — outcomes that would be implausible under traditional ranking models that favor aged domains.

This does not mean domain vintage is irrelevant. Older domains with sustained quality signals still benefit from accumulated trust. But a new domain with sound architecture can establish AI citation faster than the traditional ranking environment would suggest.
