IEO Engine Glossary Term

Footprint Scale

Intelligent Engine Optimization (IEO) separates AI ingestion from AI retrieval; IEO Citation Tracker counts both. Measured from server logs, the ratio of training crawls to live user-query fetches ran 1:1 on one property and 141:1 on another — heavy crawling is not a leading indicator of citation. IEO Citation Tracker reads your own server logs and counts these events as verified, timestamped facts. Method and denominators.

NEW — 16 AUG 2026  ·  IEO Citation Tracker v1.21.0 is available. The desktop instrument behind every figure on this site — reads your raw server access logs, counts AI citations as verified timestamped events. 952 verified events across three properties in 75 days. Runs offline.  Download →
The total number of indexed pages within an IEO Engine deployment. Footprint scale is a primary topical authority signal — domains with more pages addressing different aspects of the same topic area are classified as more comprehensive references.

Footprint scale alone is not sufficient for citation outcomes. A domain with 1,000 thin pages will perform worse than a domain with 100 substantive pages. The signal is the combination of footprint scale with content depth, internal linking density, and topical coherence.

The IEO Engine MM deployment achieved 436 indexed pages over 68 days. The TPE deployment scaled to similar levels in shorter timeframes due to the parallel cohort effect — the second deployment benefits from the methodology refinements proven in the first.
