IEO Engine Glossary Term

Observation Baseline

The pre-deployment metrics state that establishes what normal looks like for a domain before IEO Engine methodology is applied. Observation baselines enable measurement of methodology effects by providing the comparison point against which post-deployment changes are evaluated.

Observation baselines should include search console data, analytics data, citation tracking data, and adversary atlas data prior to deployment. Without baseline data, methodology effects cannot be cleanly attributed because there is no measurement of the natural state.

For new domain deployments, the observation baseline is zero across all metrics — the methodology effects are visible against the absence of any prior signals. For existing domain deployments, baseline establishment is the first methodology phase before architectural changes are introduced.
