IEO Engine Glossary Term

Citation Density

The frequency at which an individual page or domain is cited by AI engines per unit of time. High citation density indicates that the source has been classified as repeatedly useful for the AI engine's response generation, distinct from one-time citations that may not recur.

Citation density is a more stable measurement than total citation count because it reflects ongoing engagement rather than initial discovery. A page cited once and never again has different methodology implications than a page cited daily across multiple platforms.

The IEO Engine MM deployment maintains citation density of approximately 5 distinct AI retrieval events per day, sustained across multiple months. This citation density level indicates the deployment has been classified as a canonical source within its topical scope.
